Services Offered by the Breast Clinic
Breast Health
Fibrocystic Breast Disease
Fibrocystic Breast Disease is characterized by nonmalignant lumps and/or pain in the breast.
Breast Cancer
More women in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer every year than with any other cancer except skin cancer. Many lives can be saved by early diagnosis.
Breast Ultrasound
An ultrasound scan detects breast changes by sending high-frequency sound waves into the breast. It is a realiable too when used in conjunction with mammography.
Mammogram
A mammogram is an x-ray of the breast. It is the best way to reveal tumors that are too small to be felt. Mammograms can also show other changes in the breast that doctors believe may suggest cancer.
Getting Regular Mammograms
Doctors recommend routine mammograms because they are the best tools for finding breast cancer early, and early detection is the best weapon for fighting breast cancer. Regular mammograms, along with routine breast exams by a healthcare professional, and monthly breast self-exams can reduce deaths from breast cancer among women age 40 or older. While this is true, remember that mammography is not 100% perfect. Beginning at age 40, you should have a mammogram annually.
The Breast Care Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
