Nerve Conduction StudyA nerve conduction study (NCS) is a test commonly used to evaluate the function, especially the ability of electrical conduction, of the motor and sensory nerves of the human body. Nerve conduction velocity (NCV) is a common measurement made during this test. fMRI (Functional MRI)Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to learn which regions of the brain are active in a specific function, as in speech. Endovascular StentingEndovascular stenting is a minimally invasive procedure that uses advanced technology and instrumentation to treat such disorders of the circulatory system as blockage or damage to blood vessels caused by the build up of plaque (fatty deposits, calcium deposits, and scar tissue) in the arteries, a condition called atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). The doctor may recommend the placement of an endovascular stent, a small wire-mesh tube that surgeons call a scaffold, in an affected artery. The procedure may be done in conjunction with cleaning or repairing the artery. Interventional Radiology and Vascular StudiesWe participate in a variety of Interventional Radiology and Vascular Studies. Trigger Point InjectionsTrigger point injection (TPI) is used to treat extremely painful areas of muscle. Normal muscle contracts and relaxes when it is active. A trigger point is a knot or tight, ropy band of muscle that forms when muscle fails to relax. The knot often can be felt under the skin and may twitch involuntarily when touched (called a jump sign). Sleep Disorders TreatmentTreatment of sleep disorders, which are a group of conditions characterized by an inability to have normal, restful sleep. Chronic Pain TreatmentTreatment of chronic pain, which is pain that persists longer than the time it takes for natural healing to occur, or pain that lasts longer than six months. Carotid Artery Disease TreatmentTreatment of carotid artery disease, which occurs when the major arteries in your neck become narrowed or blocked. These arteries, called the carotid arteries, supply your brain with blood. Your carotid arteries extend from your aorta in your chest to the brain inside your skull. Brain Aneurysm TreatmentTreatment of brain (cerebral) aneurysm, which is a bulging, weak area in the wall of an artery that supplies blood to the brain. In most cases, a brain aneurysm causes no symptoms and goes unnoticed. In rare cases, the brain aneurysm ruptures, releasing blood into the skull and causing a stroke. Arteriovenous Malformations TreatmentTreatment of arteriovenous malformation (AVM). In the majority of cases, AVM is a congenital disorder consisting of a connection between veins and arteries, this pathology is universally known because of its occurrence in the central nervous system, but can appear in any location. StrokeSenseStrokeSense is a program developed by leading community hospitals and their affiliated physicians nationwide to help educate our community about strokes.
Stroke/TIA TreatmentTreatment of stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA). A TIA, or "mini-stroke," is often a warning sign of a future stroke. Although there is no cure for stroke, advanced medical and surgical treatments are now available, giving many stroke victims hope for optimal recovery. Treatment is most effective when started immediately. Neurological Critical Care ServicesIntensive care services designed to treat patients with serious and life-threatening diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system. Nerve BlockA nerve block is a form of anesthesia in which medication is injected near a nerve so that signals from the nerve cannot pass through. Multiple Sclerosis TreatmentTreatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a chronic degenerative disease of the central nervous system marked by weakness, numbness, a loss of muscle coordination, and problems with vision, speech and bladder control. Lumbar Puncture (Spinal Tap)A procedure whereby spinal fluid is removed from the spinal canal for the purpose of diagnostic testing.
Epilepsy/Seizure TreatmentTreatment of seizures and epilepsy, a condition involving uncontrolled electrical activity in the brain which causes seizures. Electromyography (EMG Testing)Electromyography (EMG) measures the response of muscles and nerves to electrical activity. It is used to help determine muscle conditions that might be causing muscle weakness, including muscular dystrophy and nerve disorders. Electroencephalogram (EEG Testing)An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that measures and records the electrical activity of your brain by using sensors (electrodes) attached to your head.
Botulinum Toxin (Botox) Injection TherapyBotulinum toxin (Botox) injection therapy has proven to be useful in the treatment of many neurological conditions such as muscle spasms, urinary retention, migraine and stuttering Alzheimer's Disease TreatmentTreatment of Alzheimer's Disease, an incurable, degenerative form of dementia. There is no cure for Alzheimer's Disease, but treatments may offer some symptomatic benefit. |
