THOMASVILLE, NC– Thomasville Medical Center (TMC) has received national recognition for treating heart attack patients in the 2008 VHA Clinical Excellence Awards. TMC is one of only 16 VHA member hospitals nationwide to receive this annual recognition for heart attack care.
The award is based on the latest set of measures accepted nationally as indicators of quality for cardiac care. To receive this award, TMC was ranked in the top 10% of the nation for sustaining the highest level of improvement for third quarter 2006 through fourth quarter 2007.
VHA is the national healthcare alliance that serves more than 1,400 not-for-profit hospitals and more than 21,000 non-acute healthcare organizations nationwide.
“Heart attacks are a leading cause of death in our community which makes this national acknowledgement of our success very significant,” say Dr. Asif Wahid, Board Certified cardiologist with Davidson Cardiology. “It is a credit to our cardiac care team and a validation that our efforts to provide quality treatment for heart attacks available right here in our community are paying off.”
