December 29, 2006 -- The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations has awarded Thomasville Medical Center Primary Stroke Center Certification. Presently, Thomasville Medical Center is the only community hospital of its size to achieve such recognition in North Carolina.
November 27, 2006 -- TMC announces plans to become a smoke and tobacco-free campus for all patients, visitors, employees, physicians and volunteers.
August 14, 2006 -- Three Thomasville Medical Center leaders recently earned board certification in healthcare management, advancing to Diplomat status of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), an international professional society of 30,000 healthcare leaders.
July 10, 2006 -- Thomasville Medical Center recently honored nine nurses for remarkable nursing. The 9 nurses from Thomasville Medical Center were selected out of more than 4700 nurses across Novant including facilities in Winston and Charlotte.
June 6, 2006 -- The President's Award, for commitment to service excellence for patients, physicians and employees, is the highest recognition presented by Professional Research Consultants (PRC), a nationally known healthcare research company. Each year PRC presents the President's Award to only one healthcare organization in the nation.
May 19, 2006 -- Thomasville Medical Center has announced plans to expand its Emergency Department from a 10 bed to a 27 bed facility. The new 24,000 sqare foot ED will triple the present size of the department.
May 5, 2006 -- This prestigious designation recognizes the medical centers expertise and commitment to quality patient care by meeting or exceeding nationally established stringent criteria and completing on-site evaluations by a review team from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
April 5, 2006 -- The awards were presented by the High Point Thomasville Chapter of the American Red Cross at the recent Annual Emergency Services Recognition Breakfast.
March 2, 2006 -- The ninth annual Verispan survey was recently released in the national publication, Modern Healthcare. Novant improved 66 positions in the Top 100 listing, from 74th in 2005 to 8th in 2006.
March 15, 2006 -- The procedure, presently only offered at Thomasville Medical Center and Forsyth Medical Center, is designed to correct spinal deformity due to osteoporotic fractures, significantly reducing back pain and improving a patients ability to return to daily activities.
