Thomasville Medical Centers New Board of Directors Get Prescription for 2005

Thomasville Thomasville Medical Center (TMC) had a successful year in 2004 and will be celebrating our 75th year of service to the community in 2005 said Gabrielle Causby, President of Thomasville Medical Center as she greeted oncoming members of the 2005 Hospital Board of Directors. Noting some of TMCs 2004 highlights, such as receiving a $30,000 grant from Susan G. Komen to provide free screening mammograms for those women in the community who are underinsured or uninsured and a $50,000 grant from the North Carolina Health Wellness Trust Fund to establish a medication assistance program for seniors and low income patients. TMC and other Novant facilities also received the Joint Commissions National 2004 Codman Award which showcases healthcare organizations who improve the quality and safety of healthcare. Causby prepared the new Board for an exciting year ahead.
Thomasville Medical Center is an affiliate of Forsyth Medical Center, TMCs local volunteer Board assures the healthcare needs of Davidson County are met. Our mission is to improve the health of the community one person at a time continued Causby. We have a strong Board that has Davidson Countys utmost in mind and discharges it role with responsibility and pride.
New volunteer Board members for 2005 include Sam Barefoot with the Baptist Childrens Homes of NC, Dr. Keith Curry, pastor with Old Smith Grove Church and Philip Morris USA, Mary Ann Brown with Davidson County Parks and Recreation Department Program Director and Special Olympics Coordinator, Dr. Joseph Papotto with Thomasville Family Practice and Dr. Steven Broder with Davidson Radiology.
The Thomasville Medical Center Board of Directors is the governing body developing and establishing overall policies. It has authority and accountability for all activities and operations at the Medical Center. The primary responsibilities are to ensure quality patient care and the Medical Centers ongoing successful operations.
The 2005 Medical Centers Board of Directors also includes: Fred McClure, Chairman, Vickie Holder, Vice Chair, Joe Carroll, Treasurer, Mary Rittling, Secretary, Francine Bowen, David Brookbank, Dr. Frank Burton, David Clifton, Doug Elliott, Jim Hudson, Laura Kennedy, Brian Shipwash, Dr. Mark Smith, Dr. Bob Dellinger and John Fedora.
