Signs & Symptoms of a Heart Attack

  • Thomasville Medical Center offers advanced emergency services to ensure rapid response and treatment in any situation. In addition to expert emergency medicine physicians, nurses and technologists, emergency services is equipped with patient monitoring systems, X-ray technology, on-site lab and surgical suites.
    Our emergency department is specialized and designed for the care of patients with acute illnesses or injuries. The doctors and nurses in our Emergency Department are specially trained for emergency conditions and to provide quality emergency care.
    Initial Assessment
    When you first come to the Emergency Department, you will receive an assessment by a triage nurse. The nurse will record your vital signs and ask the reason for your visit. This assessment determines the nature of your illness or injury and the order in which patients will be taken back and seen by the doctor.
    Medical Screening Examination
    As a part of the care provided by the Emergency Department at Thomasville Medical Center, you have the right to have an appropriate medical screening examination performed by a doctor or his or her physician extender. Based on the medical emergency that you are experiencing, you will receive treatment reflecting the capabilities of Thomasville Medical Center staff and facilities. If we do not have the necessary resources to treat or stabilize your condition, the hospital will arrange for you to be transferred to another facility that can meet your needs.
    Visitors
    The treatment area is limited. Only one family member or friend may stay with the patient. For privacy, confidentiality and your safety, we request that all visitors stay by the patient's bedside in the treatment area.
    Additional Emergency Services
    The Thomasville Medical Center Critical Care Transport Unit is available to transport adult patients in serious condition to other hospitals for treatment.
    For individuals who experience chest pain and other warning signs of a heart attack, the Chest Pain Center is ready to provide immediate treatment.
    Thomasville Medical Center's Emergency Department treats the majority of the sexual assault victims in Davidson County.
