Survival Skills Program
Survival Skills is a three-hour group program designed to provide basic education details on managing diabetes.
This program is for patients who cannot attend the comprehensive program or who need guidelines quickly before attending the comprehensive program.
The program includes:
  • Explanation of diabetes and the types
  • Nutrition education and personalized meal plan
  • Blood glucose monitoring and American Diabetes Association glucose control guideline
  • Medication information
  • Acute and chronic complications (detection, treatment and prevention)
  • Exercise
  • Foot care
  • Sick-day guidelines
  • Coping with diabetes
  • Goal-setting
A three-month and nine-month follow-up is provided for each participant.
