It's About Time
Thomasville Medical Center is committed to raising awareness and educating people
about the warning signs and risk factors of stroke. We also want to help people
to understand how crucial time is when experiencing signs and symptoms of a stroke. The goal is to decrease the time between when you experience your first symptoms and your arrival
for treatment. The time interval may determine the treatment options
available to you.
Stroke is a Medical Emergency. At the First Sign of Symptoms, Call 9-1-1
Thomasville Medical Center offers comprehensive stroke care from the moment the patient arrives. Receiving treatment right away can prevent life-threatening complications and more widespread brain damage—meaning your chance of survival is much higher and your risk of being disabled is much lower.
Within three hours of the onset of a stroke, we can provide intravenous thrombolytic
administration. From three to six hours following onset, depending on the nature
of the stroke, many patients can receive intra-arterial thrombolytic administration. The earlier a patient seeks help, the more likely it is they will recover.
