If you are a parent working outside of your home, you want the best care for your child. That's why Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center has established The Learning Place. This 5-star, child-development center is located on the campus of Thomasville Medical Center.

The Learning Place provides a safe, caring and secure environment and quality education programs designed to meet the individual needs of children. The Learning Place is available to all pre-school and school-aged children. Children are accepted at six weeks of age or, if there is a special need, as early as four weeks of age with a doctor's statement.

Outstanding Educational Programs

Our educational programs start at two months of age in the infant rooms and extend through our after-school program, which cares for children through the fifth grade. Among other stimulating activities, we provide computers in each classroom starting at age 2 ½ and use software that is developmentally-appropriate for each age group. We also provide two pre-Kindergarten classes through our More at Four classes. When your child leaves The Learning Place to begin his or her formal education, you'll find that s/he is well prepared.

Your Second or Third Child Will Enjoy the Same Teachers as Your First

Although we have excellent facilities, our teachers are what make us special. Our staff is selected based on their educational qualifications and experience. We also choose teachers who are warm, empathetic and relate positively to others. Our teachers take classes each year to renew their qualifications and to keep abreast of current trends and developments in the classroom. Most important, we provide a stable environment. We have had exceptionally low turnover since our program began more than 20 years ago.

Parents are Always Welcome

The Learning Place has an open-door policy and we encourage you to drop in whenever you wish. Visit during off-duty hours, eat lunch with your child and volunteer in a classroom or for special fundraising events.
