One of the main goals is to make a child's hospital stay as comfortable as possible
in an enviroment that is focused around the whole family.
Family-centered care recognizes parents as partners with the healthcare team. A
child's healthcare team could consist of physicians, nurses, therapists, technicians,
chaplains, and social workers, among others. A nursing staff experienced in
the care of children oversees a plan of care and works with this healthcare team
to coordinate services.
Our physical and social environments promote the health and development of children
and the well-being of families. A private elevator to the hospital provides immediate
access to services. Special lighting, soothing colors, fabrics and furniture help
children feel at home. Many child-friendly features of the unit make the experience
less stressful such as the colorful, hand-painted murals in the
rooms, a playroom and videos, Nintendo™ games, and books to
enjoy, just to name a few. Each room features accommodations for a
parent to stay overnight, a private bathroom, and television so the family can feel
comfortable.
